Totally Techniques Blog Hop - Paper Piecing Technique

Welcome to the July blog hop with the TOTALLY TECHNIQUES DESIGN TEAM! We have some fun projects today featuring a technique called PAPER PIECING using SNEAK PEEK products coming your way for SALE-A-BRATION! That starts on August 3rd - OH MY! OH MY GOODNESS! Aren't these adorable?  I love the COUNTING SHEEP stamp set and matching SHEEP DIES that will be available on August 3rd - and they are each FREE with a $50 order during SALE-A-BRATION! SAB (as it's called by veterans) lasts until September 30th but I wouldn't wait to get these cuties - all products are "while supplies last."

My PAPER PIECING is just that - piecing paper together to make a little ombre element for my card. I chose Melon Mambo, Polished Pink and Blushing Bride along with Basic Black and Basic White. 

I stamped the inside with the HAPPIEST OF BIRTHDAYS stamp set - a perfect sentiment set with fabulous fonts. For the card below - I used Bermuda Bay, Coastal Cabana, Just Jade and Mint Macaron for the Paper Piecing. My fence is Crumb Cake and embellished with the baker's twine bow.

So bright and colorful right? Which is your favorite?

Dimensions:

• Basic White Thick 11" x 4 1/4" scored at 5 1/2"
• Basic Black 2" x 5 1/2"
• Blue Card: Bermuda Bay, Coastal Cabana, Just Jade & Mint Macaron strips 1/2" x 1 7/8"
• Pink Card: Melon Mambo, Polished Pink & Blushing Bride strips 1/2" x 1 7/8"
• Scraps: Crumb Cake, Basic White, Coastal Cabana and Polished Pink

I did a little marker flicking on the card front with my BASIC BLACK STAMPIN' WRITE MARKER. I love that look!

Then I added the pink strips of cardstock to a 3" x 3" layer of Basic White and die cut it with one of the LAYERING CIRCLE DIES. Matted with a Basic Black scallop circle and I have a whole different look.

The STITCHED GREENERY DIE is a must have! It makes the best backgrounds for some many different cards.

Here's the box I promised to make for you tonight. I used the PATTERN PARTY DESIGNER SERIES PAPER cut 3" x 11" and the CONTOUR DIES for the scallop rectangle and the flower image.

I left this box flat and ran it through my die cutting machine on the STITCHED GREENERY DIE to make the cool pattern right on the ACETATE BOX. These boxes are a great deal - you get 10 of them for $7.

Here's a quick and easy card using the IN SYMMETRY BUNDLE - this paper is so fun and colorful! SWEET SYMMETRY DESIGNER SERIES PAPER is perfect for your summer card creations. It's part of the DSP sale that ends on August 2nd.

This is the INTERLOCKING FUN FOLD using the IN SYMMETRY BUNDLE and SWEET SYMMETRY Designer Series Paper.

The STITCHED RECTANGLE DIES are perfect for this interlocking card. They allow for easy layering.

Here's the inside - so pretty right? I used Calypso Coral & Just Jade inks. Big thanks to Candy Michael for this fabulous idea - she makes great swap cards.

Creative Inking Blog Hop - The Dies Have It!

Welcome to the July CREATIVE INKING BLOG HOP! We are featuring projects with DIES today! I chose to create with the COLOR & CONTOUR BUNDLE & STITCHED GREENERY DIE - new in the annual catalog.  You'll find a step by step tutorial in my video here:

You can really see the detail on my Fresh Freesia layer here - the STITCHED GREENERY DIE is so beautiful and really adds that extra touch to my background layer. The COLOR & CONTOUR BUNDLE is one of my favorites - I love the whimsical feel and funky fonts in the sentiments. I've found myself reaching for it time and time again - it's just easy to create with.

I chose to use Polished Pink, Pale Papaya, Daffodil Delight and Fresh Freesia for my colors - bright and summery!

I love the simplicity of creating this card - it doesn't take a lot of effort but I think it's a very sharp looking card. What do you think?

This gorgeous gingham ribbon will be available in the July-Dec Holiday Mini Catalog - make sure you order it early - I have a feeling it's going to be super popular!

Another great way to spruce things up! I love making my envelopes match my cards and using the STITCHED GREENERY DIE on the flap is a big wow.

Here are the cards I made for tonight. I cased the first one right out of the catalog. My video has lots of great tips for making this card. I love to CASE cards - it's the perfect way to get your creative juices flowing! The 2nd card has a fun technique with the PAPER LATTICE!

I am in love with the rich colors that I used for these cards. The dies (PERFECT PLANT DIES) is so much fun! And those BRICKS!!!! Amazing new Designer Series Paper!

 

There's not a lot of stamping with this card but the die elements make it come alive! I chose Cinnamon Cider for my card base. The macrame plant holder is Gray Granite with some Garden Green and Just Jade die cut foliage. I stamped the viney plant with Garden Green ink behind the pot on the Basic White layer. And the bricks come from the BLOOM WHERE YOU'RE PLANTED DESIGNER SERIES PAPER - sooooo pretty!

• Cinnamon Cider 11" x 4 1/4"
• Just Jade 1/2" x 5 1/2"
• Bloom Where You Are Designer Series Paper 5" x 4 1/4"
• Basic White 2 7/8" x 4 1/2" & 4" x 5 1/4"
• Scraps: Gray Granite, Garden Green, Just Jade 

I love the inside plant too - don't you?

For this card I wanted the PAPER LATTICE to be white so I inked it up with VersaMark ink and dusted it with WHITE STAMPIN' EMBOSS POWDER - heat set and I can have lattice in any color I have embossing powder for!

I used one of the DSP patterns to stamp my sentiment with Memento Black ink. It's die cut with a label from the TASTEFUL LABEL DIES - a great set with lots of different sizes to accommodate many different sentiments. Garden Green ink worked perfect for the foliage - the small ones stamped on Basic White and the large one stamped on Garden Green cardstock. My plant hanger is Just Jade and the pots are Cinnamon Cider.

• Basic White 4" x 5 1/4"
• Bloom Where You Are Designer Series Paper 3/4" x 5 1/4 & scrap

Don't forget to decorate your envelopes. I used the DSP for the flap - cut at 2 1/2" x 6".

Stamper's Dozen Blog Hop - Sweet Summertime!

Welcome to the July STAMPER'S DOZEN BLOG HOP! We are featuring summer cards today - my all time favorite season! You'll find a fun video tutorial that shows you how easy the ARTISTIC DIES are to make some beautiful cards here:

Quick and easy - so pretty - definitely SWEET SUMMERTIME! I chose the ARTISTIC DIES with the OMBRE SPECIALTY PAPER to make my summer cards. Flowers always = summer to me. The Ombre Specialty Paper comes in Night of Navy, Poppy Parade, Gorgeous Grape and Mango Melody. Bright and cheerful and oh so blingy!

My sentiment is stamped using the HELLO from the ARTISTICALLY INKED stamp set and die cut on the smallest label from the HIPPO AND FRIENDS DIES. I embellished with ELEGANT FACETED GEMS with a little piece of CRINKLED WHITE SEAM BINDING.

Don't forget to stamp the envelope - it's always more fun to get a pretty envelope in your mailbox - right?

We had so much fun last night! It was so nice to be back after the 4th of July holiday. We created two different fun folds last night - the first one is a DIAGONAL GATEFOLD card and the second one is a TUNNEL CARD - both pretty easy and sooooo spectacular!

I used the HAND-PENNED DESIGNER SERIES PAPER with the COLOR & CONTOUR bundle for the first card. It's hard to see but there is a half of VELLUM DOILY under the right side of the scalloped rectangle with a Blushing Bride card base. My flower is stamped in Pool Party ink and the leaf with Garden Green.

This is the same card just different colors. I used Misty Moonlight to stamp the outline image of the flower and Pale Papaya ink for the inside solid image. The card base is Mint Macaron. So pretty right? The big WOW factor happens on the inside.

This is a TUNNEL CARD! I hope you'll watch the video to see how easy this TUNNEL fold is - you'll love it!

Dimensions:

• Blushing Bride or Mint Macaron 8 1/2" x 5 1/2"
• Hand-Penned Designer Series Paper 2" x 5 1/2" (front) & 4" x 5 1/4" (inside)
• Basic White 8" x 5 1/4" fold in half and score 2" in from each side

 

Here's a fabulous fun fold that makes two cards by cutting your layers. I used the IN SYMMETRY bundle with the SCALLOPED CONTOUR dies for the scalloped layer on the front. That IN SYMMETRY DSP is part of the DSP sale this month!!! I flicked Just Jake and Calypso Coral Stampin' Write Markers on my white layer to tone it down a little bit. Those ELEGANT FACETED GEMS are perfect for the flower center.

Here are the two cards we made last night. Aren't they fun? This is called a DIAGONAL GATEFOLD CARD. Fun and easy with a big wow factor!

Dimensions:

• Night of Navy 8 1/2" x 11" (makes two cards), score at 4 1/4" & 5 1/2", cut front top right point to bottom left point at a diagonal
• Sweet Symmetry Designer Series Paper 4 3/4" x 3 1/2" cut at a diagonal
• Basic White 5" x 3 3/4" cut at a diagonal & 4" x 5 1/4" (inside)
• Bumblebee or Calyso Coral - die cut scallop rectangle
• Basic White layer on front 3 3/4" x 2 1/2"
