Totally Techniques Blog Hop - Inlay Die Cutting

Welcome to the August TOTALLY TECHNIQUE BLOG HOP where we are featuring a technique called INLAY DIE CUTTING. It's fun and easy and has a definite wow factor on your cards! Here's a video tutorial to show you how I made my cards today:

I chose to use the PLAYING WITH PATTERNS 6" X 6" DESIGNER SERIES PAPER because I love the playful colors and patterns. I think it was a good choice. The card base below is Calypso Coral and I chose it based on the coordinating colors in the DSP.

I combined the DETAILED HEARTS DIE with the stamp set called RIDICULOUSLY AWESOME for a fun message stamped in Memento Black ink on a layer of Coastal Cabana die cut from the RECTANGLE STITCHED DIES. I added a bow using the WHISPER WHITE CRINKLED SEAM BINDING for the final touch.

Dimensions:

• Calypso Coral 11" x 4 1/4" scored at 5 1/2" & scraps
• Coastal Cabana 4" x 5 1/4" & scraps
• Playing with Patterns DSP 3 7/8" x 5 1/8" & 2 1/2" x 6" (envelope flap)
• Whisper White 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" & 4" x 5 1/4"

Here's a photo of the insides of both cards. I added the little left over hearts as an embellishment. Those are the tiny little things you can do to make your cards special inside and out.

The card uses the same products - just different colors. I chose the Calypso Coral polkadot pattern to die cut the DETAILED HEARTS DIE and filled in with hearts from the Whisper White heart layer from the first card. The layer under the hearts is DSP from the PLAYING WITH PATTERNS pack. I love the watercolor texture on that layer.

I chose to use the STITCHED SHAPES DIES for the square sentiment layer and added a couple of the polkadot hearts to embellish that layer.

• Playing With Patterns DSP 2 @ 4" x 5 1/4"
• Whisper White scrap

A Paper Pumpkin Thing Blog Hop - World's Greatest

This month the August Paper Pumpkin Kit is called “World’s Greatest.” It includes 9 traditional cards—3 each of 3 designs—and printed envelopes, 3 sheets of die-cut watercolor backgrounds, 3 sheets of die-cut borders and circles, 3 sheets of white sentiment labels, 3 clear rectangle cutouts, 3 adhesive borders, 2 sheets of die-cut vellum accents, 1 sheet of die-cut trophies, 1 sheet of die-cut gold foil accents, 1 roll of grosgrain ribbon, 1 bag of gold star sequins, 1 sheet of adhesive dots, and 1 sheet of dimensionals. Plus, the exclusive 11-piece World’s Greatest Photopolymer Stamp Set
and a Pacific Point Stampin’ Spot! Coordinating Stampin’ Up! Colors: Bumblebee, gold, Mint Macaron, Pacific Point, Soft Suede, white

 

I made two alternate cards using this kit - they are both easy and really show off the elements in this kit. Here's the first one:

I chose a card base of Pacific Point and added a thin layer of Bumblebee under the Whisper White front layer.

I love the detail in the Pacific Point round ribbon images - they look real. My trophy is popped up on Stampin' Dimensionals and the little gold stars make a perfect filler for this card.

I love the fonts on all the words with this kit - I used the Pacific Point ink spot to stamp the trophy sentiments.

For this card I used a Pacific Point card base with a Bumblebee front layer. I cut up one of the card bases  and added a banner under the rectangular layer. The ends of the banner are punched with the Banner Pick A Punch - one of my new favorite tools. And again I used the round ribbon stamp on one of the die cut circles and layered it on the Pacific Point circle. This layer is popped up on Stampin' Dimensionals. A few gold stars makes the card complete.

I can't hardly wait to mail these cards out! They are perfect to cheer on my friends!

Easy Peasy right? These are quick and easy with so much pop. The GILDED AUTUMN Designer Series Paper combined with the fun die cuts are a win-win. I just love the rich colors of fall!

I chose the STITCHED SO SWEETLY DIES for my sentiment layer. Nesting dies are so easy and always look so elegant.

I like the way there's no scoring or fuss with this fold - just fold your 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" card base in half and fold the front back again and WAAA LAAA!

The LOVE OF LEAVES is a beautiful watercolor images stamp set in the Holiday Mini Catalog. I love this bundle! The dies (STITCHED LEAVES) are amazing too! 

I used Mango Melody, Bermuda Bay and Granny Apple Green cardstock and ink for my cards.

Here's another card made with the same bundle. Do you love the stitching dies? They are crazy cool right? I used Soft Suede cardstock and ink with Old Olive & Crushed Curry. The Very Vanilla layer is 3 3/4" x 5". I used the WONDERFUL GEMS for an embellishment.

Here's a close up that really shows the beauty of the dies.

 And once I die cut the leaf for the card above - it sparked the card below. I love the negative left behind from the stitched leaves. I chose the PLAID TIDINGS DESIGNER SERIES PAPER for my front layer. The gold cording comes from the WONDER OF THE SEASON RIBBON COMBO PACK. I thought it was a perfect pop of color for these cards.

This one uses Pretty Peacock for the card base.

And this one uses RICH RAZZLEBERRY.

THE FAMOUS WOOLWORTH'S ICE BOX CHEESECAKE

Light and refreshing icebox dessert made famous by Woolworth’s lunch counter back in the 1960’s.

You will need :

1 (3 ounce) package lemon Jell-O
1 cup boiling water
8 ounces cream cheese, light
1 cup granulated sugar
4 Tablespoons lemon juice ( less if you don’t want to much lemon)
1 can Carnation Evaporated milk, well chilled
Graham crackers, crushed (about 1 package)

Dissolve Jell-O in boiling water. Cool until slightly thickened.

Beat cream cheese, sugar and lemon juice with mixer until smooth. Add thickened Jell-O and beat well.

In a separate bowl, beat the Carnation milk until fluffy. Add cream cheese/Jell-O mixture and beat well with mixer.

Line bottom of 9 x 13-pan with crushed Graham crackers.

Spread filling over and top with more crushed Graham crackers. Chill.

We had a whole bunch of fun making a couple fall FUN FOLDS from the Holiday Mini Catalog tonight. You can watch the replay here:

GILDED AUTUMN is so charming. You can order the entire suite or the bundle including a stamp set and punch pack. You'll find a complete product list down below.

Hailey gets all the credit for designing both of the cards I shared tonight. This one is so fun to assemble and screams fall right?

Dimensions:

• Early Espresso 11" x 4 1/4" scored at 2 3/4" from each end
• Brushed Metallic Cardstock 3 3/4" x 3 3/4"
• Crumb Cake 3/8" x 1 3/4"
• Very Vanilla 4" x 5 1/4" & 3 1/2" x 3 1/2"
• Gilded Autumn Speciality DSP 2 @ 4" x 2 1/2"
• Leaves (6 of each) - Crumb Cake, Mint Macaron, Early Espresso & Cajun Craze

I used Cajun Craze ink for the sentiment on the inside and the leaves are Early Espresso & Cajun Craze.

And now for a little spooky fun! The MAGIC IN THIS NIGHT SUITE is soooo fun! It's a little bit of spooky mixed with floral charm. LOVE IT!

So many elements to look at right? The 1 1/2" METALLIC MESH RIBBON is the BOMB! I used it for a Christmas card that I'll share in the near future too.

Paper Pumpkin Blog Hop - Summer Nights

Welcome to the July Paper Pumpkin Blog Hop. We are featuring alternate ideas with the SUMMER NIGHTS kit this month. Sit back, relax and have fun watching this video:

I have some fun alternate projects for you today using the SUMMER NIGHTS July Paper Pumpkin Kit. These kits are the fun mail I get every month!

I added a Whisper White cards base to make the alternate idea. Everything else is from the kit. Super cute right?

This card uses a Misty Moonlight card base. Who doesn't love a jar of fireflies?

And then I decided I needed a little candy box to go with my card above and found that the GOLD MINI PIZZA BOXES were perfect. I cut the tealight die cut bag to 3 1/4 x 3 1/4 and added a layer of Misty Moonlight under it that's 3 3/8 x 3 3/8.

Ever since I was a child, I've always had a fear of someone under my bed at night.  So I went to a shrink and told him, "I've got problems. Every time I go to bed I think there's somebody under it. I'm scared and I think I'm going crazy.”

"Just put yourself in my hands for one year," said the shrink. "Come in and talk to me three times a week and we should be able to get rid of those fears." “How much do you charge?” "Eighty dollars per visit", replied the doctor. "I'll sleep on it", I said.

Six months later the doctor met me on the street. "Why didn't you come to see me about those fears you were having?" he asked. "Well, eighty bucks a visit, three times a week for a year is $12,480.00.  A bartender cured me for $10.00. I was so happy to have saved all that money that I went and bought me a new pickup truck." "Is that so?" With a bit of an attitude, he said, "and how, may I ask, did a bartender cure you?”

"He told me to cut the legs off the bed. Ain't nobody under there now!” FORGET THE SHRINKS, HAVE A DRINK AND TALK TO A BARTENDER!
