Totally Techniques Blog Hop - TONE ON TONE

Welcome to the November Totally Techniques Blog Hop! We are featuring the TONE ON TONE Technique today. This is an oldie but a goodie and a technique that I haven't used in a long time. I had so much fun making these pretty pastel cards with the Frosted Foliage bundle and the Healing Hugs stamp set. They are quick and easy - I know you'll have fun making them too!

I designed these cards to be soft and subtle. Soft Sea Foam, Petal Pink and Pool Party were the perfect colors for my cards today. Tone on Tone technique takes all the "color combining" stress away. It's easy and always very elegant.

Here's a close up of the Subtle Embossing Folder and you can really see the stitching around the Whisper White layer.

Stamping the flap of the envelopes takes them to a whole new level right?

And make sure you dress up the inside of your cards just a little bit.

Dimensions:

• Card Base (Pool Party, Soft Sea Foam) 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" & scrap
• Card Base (Petal Pink) 11" x 4 1/4" scored at 5 1/2" & scrap
• Front Panel 4" x 5 1/4"
• Whisper White 4" x 5 1/4" & scrap

Here's a great one for a winter THANK YOU card. I used Pool Party cardstock with Pool Party ink.

A Paper Pumpkin Thing Blog Hop - Winter Gifts

I had an absolute blast making my tags - they are GOR-JEE-OUS!!! I have 2 alternate cards and a treat holder that I show you how to make in this video tutorial:

Here's my first card - I love it! I created a watercolor wash in the background layer of Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper. It's a very soft look.

Dimensions:

• Pool Party 11" x 4 1/4" scored at 5 1/2"
• Shaded Spruce 3 7/8" x 5 1/8"
• Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper 3 3/4" x 5"

 

My next creation was bright and cheerful. I love the pop of color with the Poppy Parade layer. I stamped PEACE down the left side with Pool Party ink on the Pool Party layer.

Dimensions:

• Whisper White Thick 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" scored at 4 1/4"
• Poppy Parade 4" x 5 1/4"
• Pool Party 3 3/4" x 5"

And then a little matching treat holder - it's a matchbook fold - super easy! The Poppy Parade layer is 2" x 7" and it's scored at 2 3/4" & 6":

Supplies:

• Stamp Sets – Christmas Gleaming (150464)/discounted bundle with punches (153006)
• Cardstock – Whisper White (100730), Whisper White Thick (140272)
• Ink – Silvery Shimmer Delicata Metallic Ink Pad (150709)
• Misc. –Gleaming Ornaments Punch Pack (150647); Heirloom Frames Dies & Embossing Folder (152325), Holiday Rhinestone Basic Jewels (150457), Silver Metallic Thread (138402), Stampin’ Dimensionals (104430); Die cutting machine, Single Hole Punch

Measurements: 

• Cardstock: 5 1/2” x 8 1/2”, scraps to fit ornament and frame

Instructions:

1. Stamp ornament in Silvery Shimmer ink onto scrap Whisper White and punch out with coordinating punch.
2. Die cut rectangular frame from scrap Whisper White cardstock and emboss with rectangular embossing folder.
3. Punch a hole in the top of the ornament and thread Silver Metallic Thread through the hole, taping ends in place on back of frame with tape.
4. Adhere frame and ornament in place on card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
5. Stamp sentiment in Silvery Shimmer ink on card front, add rhinestones as desired.

Facebook Live NOT LIVE Replay 11.17.19

I am out of town for a Stampin' Up! conference this weekend - so I'm not LIVE tonight. But I did pre-record a Facebook video for you featuring some decorated gifts that I made for my friends! You'll find all the details in my video here:

I love decorating up boxes like this - it really takes your gift to a new level right?

This is a big box of Sea Salt Caramels. And can I just say  THEY ARE AMAZING!!!! I used the Come To Gather bundle - it is one of my all time favorites from the Holiday catalog.

Here's the details on the candy. Vande Walles' is a local gourmet candy shop - top of the line chocolates! I was able to sample one of these goodies and they are worth the calories!!!

Here's a close up - I used Gold Foil for the layer under the Crumb Cake sentiment layer. It really adds a layer of elegance to my greeting.

Then I needed some smaller gifts for my demo friends and found these little square boxes of Sea Salt Caramels. I thought they were perfect for the Playful Penguins stamp set and Let It Snow designer series paper.

I could make these all day long - so fun and adorable! I wrapped a layer of the DSP around the box so it slides off like a belly band. I really don't have dimensions to share with you - you have to measure the box that you're going to decorate. This one was 2 3/4" x 10 1/2".

These penguins are so stinkin' cute aren't they?

I can't wait to gift these!!!! My friends are going to LOVE them!

I took a little time to give you a REVEIW on the new paper trimmer by Stampin' Up! I'll show you some great tips and how to clean your paper cutter. If you're in the market for a new one - this trimmer is a real winner!

Cutting and scoring blades move out of your cutting path when needed!

Hang it on the wall with the little notch at the top!

I am very happy with the sharpness of the cutting blade after a period of time and lots of cuts. I am also happy with the pressure of the scoring blade. I love that this paper trimmer DOES NOT have a bunch of bells and whistles - keep it simple right? I would highly recommend this paper trimmer and at a price of $25 - it's a GREAT DEAL!

This is so easy and oh so pretty!!! It's called Whitewash Technique - I love this! It's so elegant right?

I embossed with White Embossing Powder and then colored with White Craft Ink and an Aqua Painter. Then I added a little bit of Wink of Stella. Then I stamped the berries with Rich Razzleberry ink.

Here are the insides (I used a snowflake stamp from the Let It Snow) in Cherry Cobbler, Blackberry Bliss and Rich Razzleberry:

Here's a view that shows how pretty that glimmer is from the Wink of Stella:

Dimensions:

• Gray Granite 3 7/8" x 5 1/8"
• Whisper White 2 @ 4" x 5 1/4"
• Rich Razzleberry 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" & 1/2" x 3 1/2"
