Totally Techniques Blog Hop - Faux Linen

 

Welcome to the TOTALLY TECHNIQUES AUGUST BLOG HOP! This month we are sharing a technique called FAUX LINEN! You'll be able to hop along when you click on the NEXT button down below to visit 6 different blogs featuring projects using FAUX LINEN from all different countries. WOW! I wanted to give you a little sneak peek at a brand new bundle of products that I've been playing with over the last month - this bundle is called FALLING FOR LEAVES. Summer is ending here in Wisconsin and we are headed for fall - my 2nd most favorite season. I can never resist a bundle with leaves in it - I have a soft spot of them! I love the funky design of these - they're something just a little different than the norm.  And of course the RICH fall colors are delicious too!

The FAUX LINEN technique tones down the designer series paper and gives it a much softer look with the amazing texture of the technique:

As I'm looking at the photo below I'm thinking this might be a really cool technique for your spooky Halloween cards too!

And make sure you're decorating up those insides just a big - the party should not end when your card is opened.

Crushed Curry and Blackberry Bliss are perfect RICH colors for fall - don't you think?

Dimensions:

• Blackberry Bliss 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" & scrap
• Crushed Curry 5 1/8" x 3 7/8" 5/8" x 2" & scrap
• Country Lane Designer Series Paper 3 3/4" x 5"
• Tissue Paper 6" x 7"

 

And then I stamped right on the tissue paper with this one and wrapped it around Crumb Cake cardstock so the background is colored.

Here's a close up to show you the FAUX LINEN layer:

And the inside is pretty spectacular too:

• Tissue Paper 6" x 7"

Feature Friday - LAST DAY!

How can it be the end of August already???? Where did my month go? I have a couple more cards to share with you using the BLENDED SEASONS BUNDLE and today is the last day to add this to your stamping arsenal! This bundle was a limited time only bundle. I have had so much fun with it. I love to challenge myself to sit down with a bundle and create many different cards and that's certainly what I've done with this one.

Here's a short video tutorial to show you how quick and easy this pretty card is to create:

I love the Vellum Cardstock die cut layer - it just adds a level of elegance to this card - don't you think? I forgot to add the Wink of Stella to the buds on my video - but that's what I did on them.

Dimensions:

• Whisper White Thick 11" x 4 1/4" scored at 5 1/2"
• Blushing Bride 4" x 5 1/4"
• Whisper White & Vellum Cardstock scraps

Here's one more card made with the same bundle - I used the WATERCOLOR PENCIL ASSORTMENT #2 on this card. I chose Gorgeous Grape and the leaves are a combination of Garden Green and Granny Apple Green - I used a Blender Pen to blend the colors together. I love our Watercolor Pencils - they are VERY high quality!

Dimensions:

• Whisper White Thick 11" x 4 1/4" scored at 5 1/2"
• Gorgeous Grape 2 1/2" x 5 1/2"
• Whisper White 2 1/4" x 5 1/2" & scrap

The flower at the bottom is cut out and popped up on a dimensional to give it that little pop of color by the greeting.

A Paper Pumpkin Thing Blog Hop - Blissful Blooms

 

If you are starting here or joining me from the talented Debbie Henderson's blog I'm so happy that you're here! Welcome to A PAPER PUMPKIN THING BLOG HOP. There are 15 of us in this hop - 15 different cards and 3-d projects!!! WHOO HOO! This month's kit is called BLISSFUL BLOOMS and it's ohhhhh so pretty!

I love the vellum die cut leaves in this kit. They add so much interest tucked behind my greeting layer - don't you think?

I stamped the beautiful watercolor image flower with Berry Burst ink and the center with Pineapple Punch - don't forget to do something fun on the inside of your cards. The party SHOULD NOT end when you open a card...

Dimensions:

• Berry Burst 8 1/2" x 5 1/2"
• Basic Black 4" x 5 1/4"
• Whisper White 4" x 5 1/4"
• Printed card front 3 7/8" x 5 1/8"

Giving a tiny little gift like this Lindor Truffle adds such a wonderful touch to you card - I love to see matching gifts and this box is so easy!

Dimensions:

• Berry Burst 4 1/2" x 4 1/2" scored at 1 1/2" on all four sides
• Printed card front 3 1/16" x 3 1/16" scored at 3/4" on all four sides

I didn't know if my granddaughter had learned her colors yet, so I decided to test her. I would point out something and ask what color it was. She would tell me and was always correct. It was fun for me, so I continued. At last, she headed for the door, saying, "Grandma, I really think you should try to figure out some of these colors yourself!"

You'll find the details for the cards in the video above...I love this card! The Petal Promenade Designer Series Paper is amazing and the Delicate Lace Edgelits are THE BOMB!!! I combined those with the DARLING LABEL PUNCH BOX to make this elegant card:

The Sparkle Glimmer Paper is such a pretty background for the Window Sheet image - don't you think? You stamp with StazOn ink and then color the back with Stampin' Blend alcohol markers:

And another pretty card using the DARLING LABEL PUNCH BOX image:

I love the Brights 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper Stack - these strips are perfect for this card:

Dimensions:

• Bermuda Bay 8 1/2" x 5 1/2"
• Brights Designer Series Paper Stack 3" x 5 1/2"
• Basic Black 3" x 5 1/2"
• Window Sheet & Silver Glimmer Paper scraps

This technique is called PULLED STRING ART or CHAIN PULLING - I don't care what they call it - it's super fun and easy and a real WOW! I used Berry Burst and Gorgeous Grape reinkers for this one - with a 16" piece of Whisper White Baker's Twine. The HELLO is from the Accented Blooms stamp set punched out with the Tailored Tag Punch. I also flicked black marker on the white layer.

One with the Gorgeous Grape card back and one with Berry Burst:

Dimensions:

• Gorgeous Grape or Berry Burst 8 1/2" x 5 1/2"

• Whisper White 4" x 5 1/4"

Dimensions:

• Bermuda Bay 11" x 4 1/4"
• Whisper White 4" x 5 1/4"

 

This one uses Real Red and Pumpkin Pie reinkers with the HAPPY from the Happy Birthday Thinlits:

Dimensions:

• Whisper White Thick 11" x 4 1/4"
• Basic Black 2 7/8" x 5 1/8"
• Whisper White 2 3/4" x 5"

This card uses the Gallery Grunge stamp set for the funky dots on the background and Gorgeous Grape and Lemon Lime Twist reinkers:

• Basic Black 2 7/8" x 5 1/8"

1. Fold Whisper White narrow notecard in half to create card base.
2. Use Snail Adhesive to attach the two Basic Black strips to the top and bottom of the notecard.
3. Stamp Elephant with Granny Apple Green ink onto 2” Whisper White square.
4. Holding the Elephant Builder Punch upside down, position over the stamped image and punch.
5. Stamp the balloon image onto Whisper White panel with Gorgeous Grape ink.
6. Adhere the Gorgeous Grape DSP strip below the balloons – about ¾” below. 
7. Stamp the greeting onto lower edge of Whisper White panel with Gorgeous Grape ink.
8. Use Stampin’ Dimensionals to attach elephant to White panel.
9. Tie a bow with the Baker’s Twine and attach with a Mini Glue dot.
10. Position the Whisper White panel to the notecard with dimensionals.
11. To finish the card, add a Granny Apple Green Glitter Enamel dot slightly above the greeting. 
12. For an extra touch – punch a circle from the Gorgeous Grape DSP and adhere to the inside of the envelope – adhere with snail adhesive, positioning slightly below the envelope adhesive..

Q: I'm a demonstrator - can I use these cards for a class?

A: YES - I highly encourage it - while the PDF is to remain exclusive to you, you are welcome to make the cards and feature them for a class with your customers. I ask that you do not post photos of these exclusive cards online.

Q: Can I share the PDF file with my customers and downline?

A: No - they are welcome to purchase the file from me but you cannot give it to them.

Q: Do I need the Blended Seasons stamp set and matching framelits to make these cards?

A: YES - if you do not order the bundle (Option #1) you will need this stamp set & framelits to complete the cards. 

Q: Will I get this online class immediately after payment?

What do you think? I thought coloring with Stampin Blend Markers right on images stamped on the Wood Textures DSP was a fabulous idea! Stamping up the flap on your envelope takes if from blah...to WOW!

Stampin’ Up! Supplies:

• STAMPS – Healing Hugs (146530 – clear, 146527 -wood)
• PAPER – Poppy Parade Cardstock (119793), Mossy Meadow Cardstock (133676), Whisper White Card Stock (100730)
• INK – Mossy Meadow (147111), Poppy Parade (147050)
• OTHER – Whisper White 5/8" Polka Dot Tulle Ribbon (146912), Snail Adhesive (104332), Post It Notes, Snips (103579)

 Cutting & Scoring: 

• Poppy Parade Card Base - 4 ¼” x 11”, score at 5 ½”
• Mossy Meadow - 4” x 5 ¼”
• Whisper White Card Stock – 2 ¾” x 5”
• Ribbon – 7”

Instructions:

• Stamp Rose on a Post It Note towards the sticky top with Poppy Parade Ink, cut out with Snips
• Stamp Rose with Poppy Parade on the Whisper White Layer on the left side
• Place Post It Note Mask over Rose and stamp two sets of leaves with Mossy Meadow Ink around the Rose
• Stamp Sentiment on right side with Mossy Meadow Ink
• Adhere the Whisper White layer to the top portion of the Mossy Meadow layer with Snail
• Tie Ribbon around the bottom into a knot on the front
• Add both layers to the Poppy Parade with Snail Adhesive
