Totally Techniques Blog Hop - Bokeh
06/29/2018
I think you're going to LOVE this blog hop!!! Bokeh is our technique for June. And Stampin' Up! has a stamp set you can use to re-create this gorgeous technique...but sadly I do not have it yet.
-
the visual quality of the out-of-focus areas of a photographic image, especially as rendered by a particular lens."a quick, visual survey of the foreground and background bokeh of a variety of lenses"
I made my Bokeh background the old fashioned way - with a watercolor wash, a template and white craft ink. You'll find a video tutorial here:
If the video doesn't play - click HERE to watch it on my blog.
This was the christening of my DANDELION WISHES and my how I love this stamp set!!! It was perfect for a busy background right? I chose Lovely Lipstick, Grapefruit Grove and Pineapple Punch reinkers for this background watercolor wash.
Dimensions:
- Lovely Lipstick 8-1/2 x 5-1/2
- Whisper White 4 x 5-1/4
- Watercolor Paper 3-3/4 x 5
And then I used it again for this card - wedding card. Love the softness of this color combo. My card base is Balmy Blue but the Bokeh background was made with Coastal Cabana and Balmy Blue reinkers.
Dimensions:
- Balmy Blue 11 x 4-1/4 scored at 5-1/2 & 3 x 4-1/4
- Whisper White 4 x 5-1/4
- Watercolor Paper 2-3/4 x 4
And then I have this card - OH MY - I love how bright these colors are together! I used the ENJOY LIFE stamp set in combination with the DANDELION WISHES set along with Tranquil Tide and Lemon Lime Twist reinkers for the background.
Dimensions:
- Lemon Lime Twist 11 x 4-1/4 scored at 5-1/2
- Basic Black 2-3/4 x 5-1/4
- Watercolor Paper 2-1/2 x 5

Thank you Kelly for giving me a refresh on the Bokeh Technique and how to get a stencil created for this technique too. I absolutely love the three different coloured backgrounds you created and I am so glad that I have downloaded the colour ink support cards so that I can look at these when I am creating a card too. But the finished cards are awesome with the use of the Delightful Dandelion stamp set. Just wow! Thank you for sharing these with us crafters. :O)

Gorgeous cards Kelly! I have always loved the Bokeh look and I especially love it more when it's soft, subtle and muted. Your cards turned out great and I love that you created your own template to use and did it the old school way. It's great to show people that sometimes we don't always need the latest tools and stamps ... that we CAN use what we have on hand and get amazing results!
Hugs,
Jo
