A magician was working on a cruise ship in the Caribbean. The audience would be different each week, so the magician allowed himself to do the same tricks over and over again. There was only one problem: The captain’s parrot saw the shows each week and began to understand how the magician did every trick. Once he understood he started shouting in the middle of the show:

“Look, it’s not the same hat.”

“Look, he is hiding the flowers under the table.”

“Hey, why are all the cards the Ace of Spades?”

The magician was furious but couldn’t do anything; it was, after all, the captain’s parrot.

One day the ship had an accident and sank. The magician found himself floating on a piece of wood in the middle of the ocean with the parrot, of course.

They stared at each other with hate, but did not utter a word. This went on for a day and another and another. After a week the parrot said: “OK, I give up. Where’s the boat?”

Cutting & Scoring:  

• Early Espresso Cardstock 5-1/2” x 8-1/2”, scored at 4-1/4”
• Scrap Piece of Early Espresso for die cut word
• Blushing Bride Cardstock 5-1/4” x 4”
• 2-Whisper White Cardstock 5” x 3-3/4”

 

Instructions:

• Fold Early Espresso card base.
• Adhere Blushing Bride Cardstock to Early Espresso card base.
• Adhere 1 Whisper White Cardstock to the inside of the card.
• Rub Embossing Buddy on the surface of the 2^nd Whisper White Cardstock. Stamp flower image five times in VersaMark ink. Cover with Gold Emboss Powder. Heat & Set with Heat Tool until shiny.
• Attach a piece of Multipurpose Adhesive Sheet to backside of scrap Early Espresso Cardstock. Run the word “amazing” from the Celebrate You Thinlits Dies through Big Shot. Remove backing and place midway on card as shown in image.
• Stamp “you” sentiment between the z & g in Early Espresso Ink.
• Flip embossed Whisper White over and put 2 small strips of Fast Fuse at the to and bottom of cardstock. Attach both ends of the Copper Trim to the adhesive strips and wrap around card. 
• Tie a bow on the Copper Trim roll and cut.
• Place bow to the to of the band of Copper Trim with a Glue Dot. 
• Stamp sun rays image inside bottom right of card.
• Enjoy!

Totally Techniques Blog Hop - Eclipse Technique

I am bursting at the seams over being invited to participate in this NEW to me blog hop - TOTALLY TECHNIQUES!!! It's a global design team with some incredibly talented Stampin' Up! demonstrators from all over the world that will be sharing the same technique for each hop. This month we are concentrating on the ECLIPSE TECHNIQUE! If you're new to me let me introduce myself - I'm Kelly Acheson from Menasha, Wisconsin, USA. I've been a demonstrator for 13 years. I'm married with one college age daughter and 3 older step-children. My hubby retired at age 56 due to health issues and is now doing all the cooking and grocery shopping - I've been trying to teach him how to clean...but haven't had a lot of luck with that. I do have to say I'm one very lucky lady! I love my job as a Stampin' Up! demonstrator! Enough about me - let's get to the projects for today....

I'm so excited to share my cards with you - I love them! Here's my first one using the EPIC CELEBRATIONS stamp set - it's one of the FREE items you can choose with your $50 order (US) and perfect for the men in your life...and if you change the colors it will work great for girls too!

I hope you had time to watch my video - what did you think of the INK BLEEDING technique? super easy right? A few details about my card: I used Dapper Denim and Lemon Lime Twist inks and the Dapper Denim 5/8" Striped ribbon. The 1-1/4" Circle Punch was used for my greeting layer with the greeting stamped in VersaMark ink and embossed with White Embossing Powder and layered on a Lemon Lime Twist 1-3/8 Scallop - this is a brand new punch in the Occasions Mini Catalog. The LARGE LETTER FRAMELITS  are a must have! I've made so many cool things with these - from home decor to personalized cards and then we have these fun ones with EPIC and FUN - right? If you order the LARGE LETTER FRAMELITS with a little something else you can get both of the stamp sets I used for my cards for FREE.

 Dimensions: 

• Lemon Lime Twist 11" x 4-1/4" scored at 5-1/2" & scrap
• Dapper Denim 4" x 5-1/4" & scrap
• Whisper White 3-3/4" x 5"

Here's the inside using the STYLIZED BIRTHDAY single stamp in Dapper Denim ink:

And here's the second card I made with the PARTY PANDAS stamp set - another FREE set with your $50 during our Sale-a-Bration promotion. The ECLIPSE TECHNIQUE is so fun and easy isn't it? I left the upper part of this card clear of stamping.

 But you'll see that this one has stamping on the upper part:

January Paper Pumpkin Thing Blog Hop

If you are starting here or joining me from the talented Lori Mueller - I think we all have to SQUEAL!!! Welcome to A PAPER PUMPKIN THING BLOG HOP. There are 16 of us in this hop!!! WHOO HOO! I think you love what we've created with the January Paper Pumpkin Kit - HEARTFELT LOVE NOTES - it's soooo cute!

 

 Here's the HEARTFELT LOVE NOTES kit....

Super cute right? 

And here are the alternate projects I made. An adorable card and matching candy box. 

I used Flirty Flamingo ink to stamp the XOXO's around the outside edge of a 4" x 5-1/4" Whisper White cardstock. I mounted that on a Basic Black card base and then added the black striped layer that's included in the kit. The white scalloped layer was trimmed down to fit on the front (also included with the kit) and I used Black Archival Ink to stamp the greeting on the vellum heart die that's also included in the kit.

Here's my inside:

I used glue dots to on the vellum heart under the enamel shapes so you can't see them through the heart - pretty clever right?

The die cut hearts below are an elements from the Mini Treat Bag Thinlits dies. I added two very thin strips of the champagne foil hearts patterned paper above and below the dies with a strip of the Flirty Flamingo under the hearts. This was all a matter of cutting up what I had in the kit and layering it.

The CLEAR TINY TREAT BOXES were the perfect container to decorate with some of the paper included in the kit and a double bow using the BOW BUILDER PUNCH. I added a GOLD FACETED GEM to the center of the bow.

And here's another great idea for the elements from this kit. I cut the front panel off this one and added a layer of Basic Black with Whisper White on the front to stamp on. The DECORATIVE RIBBON BORDER PUNCH was my choice for the tiny scalloped edge on the top of the insert. I used the dies from the PAINTED LOVE SUITE to cut out a Flirty Flamingo heart and attached it with a couple of the Dimensionals included in the kit. 

There were very few products that I added to these project - almost everything came in the kit. You'll find a list of the extras I added down below.

Wait...WHAT? & Joke of the Week

I have some GREAT tips for you today using the new 1/4" Organza ribbon. In the video I referred to it as 3/8" but it's really only 1/4". I will show you how to make this ribbon any color you need! You can watch the video here:

I used my Dapper Denim Stampin' Write Marker for this one:

The Dark Pink Pirouette Stampin' Blend alcohol marker for this bow - you only need to color one side of the ribbon and it bleeds through to the other side. LOVE those Alcohol markers:

The Black Stampin' Write Marker worked for this ribbon. You do have to color both sides when using these markers.

This one was colored with the Dark Rich Razzleberry Stampin' Blend:

1st day of school

 

After retiring from the Marine Corps, a former Drill Instructor Sergeant took a job as a high school teacher.  Just before the school year started, he injured his back.  He was required to wear a light plaster cast around the upper part of his body.  Fortunately, the cast fit snugly under his shirt and wasn't noticeable when he wore his suit jacket.

 

On the first day of class, he found himself assigned to the toughest students in the school.  The smart- alack punks, having already heard the new teacher was a former Marine, were leery of him and he knew they would be testing his discipline in the classroom.

 

Walking confidently into the rowdy classroom, the new teacher opened the window wide and sat down at his desk, he looked around the room and made eye contact with each and every student.  A strong breeze through the window made his tie flap.  He picked up a stapler and stapled the tie to his chest.

 

Dead Silence.

 

The rest of the school year went very smoothly...

Petal Passion Card

This card doesn't even use any stamps!!! It features the Petal Passions Memory and More Card Pack from the Occasions Mini Catalog - isn't it GOR-JEE-OUS??? It's shown on the bottom of page 24. It's originally designed for scrapbooking but it makes beautiful cards too?

The background is made with Pool Party reinker mixed with Embossing Paste and applied with the Sweet Soiree Decorative Mask. Delicious!

 

Supplies: 

• Card Stock: Basic Gray (121044), Pool Party (122924)
• Measurements: Basic Gray 4 ¼ x 11” and 3 7/8” x 5 1/8”, Pool Party 4” x 5 ¼” 
• Misc. –Petal Passions Memory and More Card Pack (145592); Dimensionals (104430); Blends: Pool Party Stampin' Blends Combo Pack (144605); Old Olive Stampin' Blends Combo Pack (144597); Daffodil Delight Stampin' Bends Combo Pack (144603); Pool Party Re-inker (122933); Embossing Paste (141979); Palette Knives (142808); Sweet Soiree Masks (145643) Basic Rhinestones (144220)

Measurements:  

• Basic Gray:  4-1/4" x 11" & 3-7/8" x 5-1/8” 
• Pool Party:   4” x 5-1/4” 

Instructions:

1. Color in Flower Image with Stampin' Blends Alcohol Markers and fussy cut. 
2. Mix two drops of Pool Party Re-Inker with about 1 tsp of Embossing Paste and apply with Pallete knife over Sweet Soiree Decorative Mask onto your 3 7/8" x 5 1/8" piece of Basic Gray cardstock and let dry. 
3. Attach Basic Gray layer to the Pool Party layer and then to the front of the card base. 
4. Attach cut flowers with Stampin' Dimensionals.

Sale-a-Bration Design Team - Gor-Jee-Ous!

I've teamed up with some amazing demonstrators again to bring you fabulous projects using Sale-a-Bration items! I'll be posting them on Thursdays for the next several weeks.

And isn't this one GOR-JEE-OUS??? I love making framed art with my stamping supplies - I usually make it as gifts and my friends and family cherish them...which really warms my heart!

An ornate frame like this one is the perfect match for this beauty. And I love the Powder Pink Shimmery Ribbon is perfect for a project like this - it's hard to see in the photo but the ribbon really does shimmer and it's spectacular in person.

I love this stamp set - HEARTFELT BLOOMS! It's FREE with your $50 order until March 31st. It's a brand new technique that Stampin' Up! is having patented where they took a photograph of a bouquet of flowers and then made it into a stamp - OMGosh! It soooo stunning! I actually gasped the first time I lifted my stamp off my cardstock when I used it. It's just that pretty!

I love having the Large Letter Framelits in my stash of supplies! I've used them for everything from personalized cards, home decor gifts and even party banners - they are the best! Stampin’ Up! Supplies: You'll find the complete list down below

Cutting & Scoring:  

• Pool Party – 5” x 7”
• Soft Suede – 2 ⅛” x 1 ⅜”
• Glossy White – 4” x 6” and 2” x 1 ¼”
• Powder Pink Shimmer Ribbon – 8” and a bow

 

Instructions:

• Stamp the floral image in Pool Party ink around the edges of the Pool Party cardstock.
• Stamp the floral image in Pool Party, Blushing Bride, and So Saffron ink on the 4” x 6” Glossy White cardstock.  
• With Stampin’ Sponge, sponge the edges with Pool Party ink.  Sponge the edges of the 2” x 1 ¼” glossy cardstock as well.
• Place the stamped glossy cardstock on the Big Shot and lay the letters FAITH in the center, about ⅝” from the top.  Run through Big Shot.
• Place Tear & Tape in the center of the ribbon and adhere about ⅝ ” from the bottom.  Wrap ribbon to the back and adhere in place.
• Adhere this focal image to the Pool Party cardstock.
• Place Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals on the letters and place just off slightly in the die cut areas.
• Add to picture frame.
• Stamp “With Faith all things are possible” in Soft Suede ink on the 2” x 1 ¼” glossy cardstock.  Adhere to the Soft Suede cardstock.  Place (4) Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals to the back of the sentiment and add to the bottom right corner.
• Add the ribbon knot with a glue dot to the left of the sentiment.

Control Freaks January 2018

Welcome to the Occassion/Sale-a-Bration blog hop. That's the theme this month. I'm super excited to show you the fun technique cards I created with the BEAUTIFUL PEACOCK stamp set and BRUSHO CRYSTAL COLOURS!!!

You might be arriving from the fabulous Cindy Elam or you might be starting right here with my blog...either way...make sure you go to the bottom and look for the NEXT graphic (it looks just like the one above only says "click here to proceed") and continue on the hop with us! There are 8 blogs in this  hop with fabulous creations to share with you.

Here's what I came up with:

The blue and yellow BRUSHO colors reminded me of the colors of a peacock so it seemed fitting to use the BEAUTIFUL PEACOCK stamp set for my cards. This is one of the FREE stamp sets you can get with the Sale-a-Bration promotion and your $50 order. The Organza Ribbon is in the Occasions Mini Catalog and I took the white ribbon and used the Dapper Denim Marker to color the edges blue - super cool to be able to have ribbon to match any color as long as you have a marker right?

Accessories: Brusho Crystal Colours, Stampin' Spritzers, Whisper White Organza Ribbon, Layering Circle Framelits, Big Shot, In Color Markers 2016-2018, Dimensionals, Glitter & Clear Epoxy Shapes

Dimensions: 

• Dapper Denim 4-1/4" x 11" scored at 5-1/2" & scrap
• Emerald Envy 4" x 5-1/4"
• Watercolor Paper 3-7/8" x 5-1/8" & scrap
• Whisper White 1/2" x 2-1/2"
   

I just love how every time I use these crystals they turn out different and they the color has such depth. What do you think?

 

For the card below I made a background just like the one on the peacock card and die cut the HAPPY BIRTHDAY THINLITS out of it - love the tie-died effect right? I used the Tree Builder Punch to get the little flowers on the BEAUTIFUL PEACOCK vines stamped image. Two very different cards with the same stamp set. I stamped greetings in the inside using the Better Together stamp set on Whisper White layers.

Feature Friday: - Brusho Video!!!! My New Love!

I have another fabulous card to share with you and a video tutorial to show you how fun and easy it is to make a background like this with BRUSHO CRYSTAL COLORS. My new love!!! Isn't this pretty? There's a couple elements on this card that really POP - the PETAL PASSION DSP running down the side and the black AMAZING die - love what they add to my card.
