A Paper Pumpkin Thing Blog Hop - Back in Plaid

If you are starting here or joining me from the talented Jennifer Hills Blog - I think we all have to SQUEAL!!! Welcome to A PAPER PUMPKIN THING BLOG HOP. There are 15 of us in this hop - 13 different cards and 3-d projects!!! WHOO HOO!

 

  

I'm super excited to show you what I made with the November BACK IN PLAID PAPER PUMPKIN KIT - those little stockings are soooo adorable! 

Here's the kit:

 

And this adorable stamp set:

And here's what I made with it! I added the SOFTLY FALLING embossing folder and some GOLD FOIL PAPER to the kit with some cardstock and came up with this pretty card. I cut the GOLD FOIL PAPER 1-3/4" x 3-1/4" and just cut it on the bottom to match the banner with the tree on it.

 

Then I got out my LAYERING SQUARES FRAMELITS and a little GOLD RIBBON to make this cutie. I cut the banners with the gold snowflakes on them to 1-1/2" x 1-1/2" and then used the scalloped square framelit that's 1-3/4" x 1-3/4" for the Elegant Eggplant layer behind each one.

The first thing that popped into my head with the stocking was to stamp directly on it! I used ELEGANT EGGPLANT ink with the snowflake image and I pulled my WHITE BAKER'S TWINE through the same ink pad to dye it purple to match:

I'm going to put a gift card in the stocking with some candy - I can't hardly wait for Christmas!

Good Tidings - Gorgeous Card

 This is one of my favorite cards made with the GOOD TIDINGS stamp set. suck a bright and elegant card - thanks in part to the MERRY MUSIC DESIGNER SERIES PAPER.

This DSP is so pretty and a perfect background. It's lightweight and double sided. You get 4 sheets of each of the 6 designs. 

 

Here's the GOOD TIDINGS stamp set - it's a 2 step stamping process to get that realistic look I love!

 

Cutting & Scoring:  

• Cherry Cobbler - 8 1/2” x 5 1/2”, scored at 1 1/4” & 4 1/4” & scrap
• Whisper White - 4” x 5 1/4” & scrap
• Merry Music Specialty Designer Series Paper 2 @ 2 3/4” x 5 1/4” & 1 @ 1” x 5 1/4”

Instructions:

• Stamp Good Tidings greeting with Cherry Cobbler ink on Whisper White scrap.
• Die cut in Big Shot using the 2 7/8” Stitched Shapes Circle die.
• Stamp 2-step leaves around the edges with Old Olive ink.
• Die cut Cherry Cobbler scalloped circle in Big Shot and adhere Whisper White stamped circle to this layer.
• Stamp holly leaves randomly and berries with Old Olive and Cherry Cobbler inks on white music sheet.
• Fold all score lines on Cherry Cobbler card base and adhere Merry Music Specialty Designer Series Paper on front and inside panel of card base.
• Stamp inside 4” x 5 1/4” Whisper White layer with other greeting in Cherry Cobbler ink in the upper center and holly leaves and berries in the bottom right corner.
• Adhere to card inside.

Measurements:

Merry Little Christmas DSP: 3-1/4” x 3-1/4”

Window Sheet: 3-1/4” x 3-1/4”

Whisper White card stock: Two 2” x 3” scraps for stamping image & punching

 

Instructions: 

1. Use the Layering Circles Framelits to die-cut a 2-3/8” window in the lid of the Mini Pizza Box.  You may have to run it through the Big Shot 2-3 times to cut through the thicker chipboard.  
2. Add 3-1/4” x 3-1/4” Window Sheet to the inside of the window with Tear & Tape.  Assemble the box.
3. Die-cut a circle of the same size from the center of a 3-1/4” x 3-1/4” of Merry Little Christmas DSP. Adhere with SNAIL to the box top. Optional: add leftover circle to the inside.
4. Stamp Cookie Cutter Christmas reindeer in Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto Whisper White card stock.  Color in with Stampin’ Blends Markers in Crumb Cake, Bronze & Cherry Cobbler. Add a little Wink of Stella shimmer to the nose.
5. Punch out the reindeer with the Cookie Cutter Punch.  Punch out a second shape to adhere to the back, covering up the bleed-thru ink.  Pop up onto box top with Dimensionals.
6. Tie a bow with the Cherry Cobbler Double-Stitch Ribbon and adhere with a Glue Dot.
7. Fill with a cookie, candy, gift card or a small gift for an awesome stocking stuffer!

Stampin’ Up! Supplies: 

• PAPER –  Real Red Cardstock (102482), Whisper White Cardstock (100730), Silver Foil Sheets (132178)
• OTHER – Big Shot (143263), Precision Base Plate (139684), Trim Your Stocking Thinlits Dies (144682), Mini Tinsel Trim Combo Pack (144636), Silver Metallic Thread (138402), Dimensionals (104430), Multipurpose Liquid Glue (110755), Standard Hole Punch

Cutting & Scoring:  

• Real Red Cardstock - 8 ½” x 5 ½”
• Whisper White Cardstock - Scrap
• Silver Foil - Scrap 

Instructions:

• With the Big Shot Machine and correct “sandwich” for cutting with the Precision Base Plate:  (A) Cut one Stocking and one Pillow Box “side” from the Real Red Cardstock  (B) Cut one of each Toe, Heel, Cuff, and Pom Pom Trim from the Whisper White Scrap.  (C) Cut two bells from the Silver Foil scrap.
• Using Liquid Glue, adhere the Pom Pom trim piece to the underside of the Cuff piece.
• Using Liquid Glue, adhere this decorated Cuff, the Toe and the Heel pieces to the front of the Stocking piece.
• Using a standard hole punch, punch a hole in the flap at the top of the Stocking piece.
• Cut a length of Silver Trim, form a loop, and tie the ends together in a knot.  Push the loop up through the hole you punched .
• Using lengths of Silver Thread, tie the Silver Bells to the Silver Trim and adhere to the front of the Stocking piece with Dimensionals.
• Fold along the score lines on the Pillow Box piece and crease with a bone folder or ruler.  Lining the top corners of the Pillow Box up with the back of the Stocking piece, adhere edges of Pillow Box to Stocking with Liquid Glue.  Hold until set.  Apply glue to the “tab” on the pillow box and gently fold it up inside the Pillow Box and adhere to inside of the Stocking piece.  
• Fold down the top flap of the pillow box and top flap of the stocking.

Happy Thanksgiving!

In 1621, the Plymouth colonists and Wampanoag Indians shared an autumn harvest feast that is acknowledged today as one of the first Thanksgiving celebrations in the colonies. For more than two centuries, days of thanksgiving were celebrated by individual colonies and states. It wasn’t until 1863, in the midst of the Civil War, that President Abraham Lincoln proclaimed a national Thanksgiving Day to be held each November.

Whatever you may be doing today - where ever you may be - may your day be filled with friends and family and laughter and a great feast! And be thankful - I know I am!

A Cabbie picks up a Nun. She gets into the cab, and notices that the
VERY handsome cab driver won't stop staring at her.
She asks him why he is staring. He replies:
"I have a question to ask, but I don't want to offend you"

She answers, "My son, you cannot offend me. When you're as old as I am
and have been a nun as long as I have, you get a chance to see and
hear just about everything. I'm sure that there's nothing you could
say or ask that I would find offensive."

"Well, I've always had a fantasy to have a nun kiss me."
She responds, "Well, let's see what we can do about that: #1, you have
to be single and #2, you must be Catholic."

The cab driver is very excited and says, "Yes, I'm single and
Catholic!
"OK" the nun says. "Pull into the next alley."

The nun fulfills his fantasy with a kiss that would make a hooker
blush.
But when they get back on the road, the cab driver starts crying.
"My dear child," said the nun, "Why are you crying?"

"Forgive me but I've sinned. I lied and I must confess; I'm married
and I'm Jewish."

The nun says, "That's OK. My name is Kevin and I'm going to a

Here's a card I almost forgot to share with you! I made it for swaps when the Holiday Mini Catalog was new. This uses the CHRISTMAS QUILT bundle - it's a fun card to give to someone that like needlework - whether it's quilting, sewing or cross stitch - they will love it! You'll find all the supplies & details below.

Supplies:

• Stamps: Christmas Quilt (144793), Bundle & Save (146026)
• Paper: 
  • 144245 Lemon Lime Twist (8-1/2” x 5-1/2”)
  • 144617 Quilted Christmas 6” x 6” Designer Series Paper Stack (5” x 3-3/4”)
  • 100730 Whisper White (4” x 5-1/4” & scrap)
  • 102482 Real Red (3-7/8” x 5-1/8” & scrap)
• Ink:  126949 Real Red
• Other:  124262 Whisper White Solid Baker’s Twine, 145372 Stitched Shapes Framelits, 144220 Rhinestone Basic Jewels, 143263 Big Shot, 110755 Liquid Multipurpose Glue, 104430 Stampin’ Dimensionals, 104332 Snail Adhesive

Instructions:

1. Stamp greeting on Whisper White scrap using Real Red ink.
2. Die cut with the 2-7/8” Stitched Shapes Circle Framelit in the Big Shot.
3. Die cut the spool, flower and needle images on Real Red scrap.
4. Wrap the spool with Whisper White Solid Baker’s Twine securing it in the back with a little bit of Snail Adhesive.
5. Add a Stampin’ Dimensional to the back of the spool and adhere to circle.
6. Secure the flower and needle to circle where shown with Multipurpose Liquid Glue.
7. Add designer series paper to Real Red layer and then to card front.
8. Adhere circle to center of card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
9. Stamp little flowers across the bottom of the 4” x 5-1/4” Whisper White layer and adhere to inside of card.

Control Freaks November 2017

Happy Holidays!!! That's the theme for our blog hop this month. I'm super excited to show a couple Christmas cards I created with the Carols of Christmas bundle!!!

You might be arriving from the fabulous Melissa Davies or you might be starting right here with my blog...either way...make sure you go to the bottom and look for the NEXT button and continue on the hop with us! There are 8 blogs in this Happy Holidays hop to share with you.

This is one of the best bundles in the Holiday Mini Catalog - I love the Carols of Christmas bundle - the stamp set has fabulous fonts for the large greetings and an amazing set of thinlits called Card Front Builder Thinlits Dies. 

I thought the nutcrackers were a perfect print for this card - they come from the Christmas Around the World Designer Series Paper - aren't they fun? This card base is Night of Navy and the front is embossed with the Quilt Top embossing folder (144687). The addition of the Gold Glimmer Paper (133719) was perfect to add that bit of glitz to my card - don't you think?

The card below also uses the Christmas Around the World Designer Series Paper (144629) with Vellum Cardstock (101856) as the overlay. Such a subtle look - right? I used Real Red, Garden Green and Soft Suede ink with a Real Red cad base and Garden Green for the trees. The framelit design really makes this card spectacular. I added a little Wink of Stella Clear Glitter to the trees - it's hard to see in the photo but in real life it's so pretty!
