2011 Holiday Mini Catalog

Remember Rollerskating?

100_4417

Here's a little BLAST FROM THE PAST!  Rollerskating was a hot event on Friday nights when I was a kid.  My mom spent plenty of time on those Friday nights trucking me back and forth from the rink.

How adorable is this card?  It's made with the Holiday Stocking Die from the last mini catalog.  I found this little beauty on Pinterest - ohhhh I'm loving that site!!!

The Sprinkled Expressions & Outlined Occasions stamp sets are perfect for the skate and they are BOTH FREE!!!  They're available as part of the Sale-A-Bration promotion that's over on March 31st.  For every $50 in merchandise you order - you get one free item of your choice from the brochure.  And you have to love that Island Indigo Baker's twine for the shoelaces too!

100_4423

Did you know that this die is still available?  It's on the "CARRYOVER LIST"  You can view the list here:

Sparkling Snowman

100_0551

Oooo la la...this is a beauty!  What an incredible THANK YOU card for your Christmas presents!!!

I've been saving it for you!  I was able to make this card at Founder's Circle in September at Jill Olsen's house.  Jill is my 5th upline with Stampin' Up! and we are all so fortunate that she lives in St. George, Utah.  Every year when we attend the top 100 trip - she invites us to her house for some great food, demonstrations and make-n-takes.

100_0556

The card is 5-1/4 x 5-1/4 and absolutely stunning.  It uses our square envelopes (shown below).

We used the Circle Die (shown below) to cut out the circles and then embossed them with the Snow Burst folder.  Sponged them with White Shimmer Paint (shown below) and the edges with Marina Mist ink.  Everything is stacked together with Dimensionals.  The nose is our Star Punch - we took a circle punch and just snapped the end off.  Don't you LOVE the Silver Glimmer Paper???  The arms of the snowman are pieces of the Snowflake Punch.  The snow on the bottom of the card is simply strips of white cardstock, torn and sponged.  And of course - lots of Rhinestone Jewels.  Amazing!

Stocking Builder Punch Not Carrying OVER!!!

This news just in....it's so hard to believe....BUT SU is not going to carry over the Stockings Builder Punch into the big catalog - this is a first with a punch.

STOCKING BUILDER PUNCH

December 20, 2011

Our occasion-specific mini catalogs allow us the opportunity to share the latest seasonal products with you and your customers, and we often carry over products from our mini catalogs into the following Idea Book & Catalog. This time, however, we have decided not to carry over the Stocking Builder Punch (item 124095) from the 2011 Holiday Mini Catalog into the next Idea Book & Catalog. Instead we will offer other great designs in its place--not to mention a trendy, new design planned for next holiday season.

Once the current inventory of this punch has been depleted, it will no longer be available for purchase. We hope many Stampin' Up! stockings will adorn cards and brighten holiday projects this season and look forward to seeing what you create with the next seasonal design.

Here are some fabulous ideas using this punch...it's more than just a Christmas stocking!!!

Pop Up Penguin Card

100_0132

This card was sooooo fun!!!!!  The penguin is made with the 2-Step Owl Punch - just cut the ears off the owl and you have a penguin!  I love it when a tool does double duty for us.

The nose is the heart on this punch - turned upside down.  And the fins are the large oval punch - just punch out from your black cardstock and then use the scrap that's left over to punch slivers for the fins.

100_0133

The snow on the front is a piece of 5-1/2" x 2-3/4" white cardstock - torn in half.  I used the bigger piece as the first layer (the taller one) and the other piece I tore off as the lower snowbank.  I layed my torn pieces on a scrap of typing paper and ran the 2-way glue pen acrossed the torn edge and dusted with Dazzling Diamonds glitter.....WOWEEE!

Here's the inside of the card - with the pop up.  I received a beautiful card from Founder's Circle with this technique inside.  My Technique Tuesday stampers asked last month to learn this technique for our class this month.

100_0134

Here's how I cut the inside pop up channel.  Place your cardstock in the paper cutter at 2-3/4".  Cut from 5" to 10-1/2" down the edge.  Then move your cardstock over to 3-1/4" and cut again from 5" to 10-1/2".

100_0127

Your then going to put your cardstock in the cutter the long way and score the channel at 5", 10" & 10-1/2" as shown below.  Fold on the score lines so it looks like this:

100_0128

I punched out snowflakes with the 3/4" circle punch, backed with Not Quite Navy 1" circles.  I doubled these up so when they twirl around you have the image on both sides.  A little white Baker's Twine in between the layers was perfect.  Run some SNAIL adhesive down the channel on your card base and stick your Baker's Twine to it - spacing your snowflakes evenly.  Then to cover the channel up on the outside of your card - I used Letters From Santa Designer Series Paper - cut a 1" wide.  Make sure you apply your glue to the outside of the card along each edge of the channel - careful not to get any glue on the channel or your pop up willno longer pop up.  I prefer to use the Liquid Mono glue for this step.

You'll notice here that the scalloped layer is bigger than the channel - this measures 1" x 5".

100_0135

The little sign is the cuff from the Stocking Punch - it's the perfect size to use with the Tiny Tags stamp set.

100_0133

I used Tiny Tags, Serene Snowflakes, & Many Merry Messages for my stamp sets.

Here are a few of the products I used for this project:

Paint your Glimmer Paper!!!

I promised I'd show you how to color your Glimmer paper....

100_0145

1. I put some reinker (Indigo Island) in a brad lid - you want to use a VERY dark color for this technique.

2. I sprayed my reinker with a couple squirts of rubbing alcohol.  I used rubbing alcohol because I'd heard from other demonstrators that there was a problem with this technique drying...and alcohol has drying agents.  You can try water if you want...I have a spritzer bottle of alcohol in my stamping dungeon, so it was convenient.

3. Use the large Aqua Painter to color your silver glimmer paper - I squeezed my Aqua Painter a little bit while I was painting with it too.

100_0136

4. Paint the entire piece (mine is 3" x 3").

100_0138

5. I used a heat tool to dry the paint.  You can see how light it gets when you dry it.

100_0139

Here's a view of the original Silver Glimmer paper and the painted piece.  It's soooo pretty!!!

100_0141

And a close up of my card...

100_0144

100_0145

The dimensions for this gift card holder are 4-1/4" x 11".  Score at 2-3/4, 3-1/4, 3-3/4 & 7-3/8.  I use Mini Glue Dots to attach the gift card inside.
