The Perfect Turkey

Turkey Sparkles

TURKEY RECIPE

I thought this sounded good! Here is a turkey recipe that also includes the use of popcorn as a stuffing ingredient -- imagine that. When I found this recipe, I thought it was perfect for people like me, who just are not sure how to tell when turkey is thoroughly cooked, but not dried out.

Give this a try.

                8 - 15 lb. turkey

                1 cup melted butter

1 cup stuffing (Pepperidge Farm is Good)

1 cup un-popped popcorn (ORVILLE REDENBACHER'S LOW FAT IS BEST)

                Salt/pepper to taste

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Brush turkey well with melted butter, salt, and pepper.

Fill cavity with stuffing and popcorn. Place in baking pan making sure the neck end is toward the front of the oven, not the back.

After about 4 hours listen for the popping sounds.

When the turkey's #ss blows the oven door open and the bird flies across the room,.... it's done.

And, you thought I didn't cook...

How fun would these be at your Thanksgiving dinner table???  My Technique Club customers made these earlier this month.  This was our punch project….you can have the place card bent up or laying flat as shown below:

I used the XL Scallop Punch and the regular sized Scallop Punch, along with the 2-Tags Die (I know – again???)  I can’t get enough of this tag die!!!  There’s a Hersey Nugget in the center for the body of the turkey – chocolate is just as good as turkey, don’t you think?

Big Shot Projects to DIE FOR!!!!

100_5120
I have some GREAT Big Shot projects to share with you today!  My downline and friend, Laura Harvey made this gorgeous quilt hanging….with the Large Scallop Die.  I LOVE the colors and all the stitching!  Quilting with the Big Shot makes it SUPER simple!  Way to go Laura!

100_5119

Are these the cutest things ever???

100_5150

My customer and friend, Jean Lowney makes these mittens to sell.  I am absolutely in love with them.  Last year I bought a pair for myself, my daughter Hailey and her boyfriend.  Hailey and I love ours and Austin was thrilled with his too – they were black & gray and didn’t have any flowers on them…LOL!  These mittens are made from old wool sweaters that are shrunk in the dryer…you know you’re not suppose to dry wool…but when you do it shrinks and gets very dense.  There’s a term for it – and with all the people around me right now – we can’t think of it.  My friend Terri said she usually calls it “oh #$@%#!”  but that’s not the term I was hoping to share with you! LOL!  Jean lines them with polar fleece so they’re super soft too.  I’ve never had a warmer pair of mittens –and in Wisconsin, you better have warm mittens!

Here are some more:

What a GREAT gift these would make!!!  If you’re interested in getting yourself a pair – just email me and I’ll put you in touch with Jean!

Lots of Orange

We had a pretty fun day for our start of the 10-day gun hunting season…

100_5185

This is the first time in 30 years (give or take a few) that I haven’t gone out to sit in a stand and freeze my butt off for nothing….and guess what?  I saw 10 deer yesterday just sitting in the house and out on the deck!!!

Here’s the end result of those 10 deer…not don’t worry – you don’t have to cover your eyes.  I’m not going to show you anything gory…just a whole bunch of empty ammo – LoL!  And no deers!  My nephew had to go around and pick up all the spent shells – just to make us all feel like a bunch of schmucks!  We shot 43 times (at least) – but don’t worry – those deers were all safe!  And I have to add that we were shooting several hundred yards away...

100_5190

Why wasn’t I hunting opening morning…because I was up most of the night with my patient…Hailey.  She had ACL reconstructive surgery Thursday afternoon.  Tore it playing indoor soccer.  Her pain block started wearing off Friday night and oooooooohhhhh boy!  It wasn’t good.  But I have to say – she’s quite the trooper!  Here she is wrapped up in a wheelchair trying to get in on the action yesterday afternoon:

100_5189
I’ll keep taking good care of Hailey and keep my eyes open right out the window…I’ve never been so warm while deer hunting!

Deer Hunting Season in Wisconsin

100_5176
It’s opening day of Gun Hunting here in Wisconsin and look what my friend Terri made for all the “girl” hunters!!!!!  She used the Hodgepodge Hardware kit to make us some rifle shell earrings!

Make sure you take note of the Rhinestone Jewels she adorned them with too – they’re not just for cards!  How stinkin’ creative are these???

100_5181

And how about these “redneck” Christmas ornaments???  Great recycling idea – the base of each Santa is a used shotgun shell!!!!

100_5182
My dad thought they were pretty cool too…. Sorry about the clarity here….but it was a “spur of the moment” photo – I’m sure he would have posed like a rock star if he knew he would be famous on my blog!!!
