Sneak Peek!!!

Have you been wondering where I've been?  Well - this is one of the jewels I've been working on over the last week - WHEW!  And it's done!  I didn't order the fancy graduation invitations from Hailey's school...well because that would just be WRONG!  My only child needs something very very special and this was the ticket!

I used the NEW Betsy's Blossoms stamp set - coming out in the NEW 2012 catalog!  Hailey likes bright and beautiful and that's just what I made her.  These invitations were sent out to my family...so I didn't have to make a ton of them.  They are invitations to the graduation ceremony next Thursday.

The invite is a tri-fold - here's what it looks like when you open up the front...it was really fun to use up some of the photos in her Senior Pictures book of proofs for this project.

Don't Stop Believin' is her class song...you know from Journey...I still have that tune running through my head~LOL!  I tried to fit her class moto in...but just couldn't find an appropriate place for it - I think it's really funny:  GO BIG OR GO HOME!!!  I used My Digital Studio software to type up all the words - it was so easy to customize exactly what I needed in a font that I liked.

And the actual invite part - I love that you can add stamped images in My Digital Studio too - and make them any color or size that you need.

I had to wait for my invites to arrive at their various locations once I mailed them, before I could post.  My mom is a subscriber and I didn't want her to see these before she got her very own!

I love using my personalized stamp on the envelopes so I can make the ink match too.

In other news...well it's finally DONE!  The pool that is.  

Remember this - 

After alot of stress and hard word on hubby's party - it's officially fun, running and that heater is cranking!  It's a long story and one I just don't want to rehash - it makes my blood boil.  Let's just say the new pool store jacked me around for 11 days before the parts we needed to get the pool up and running arrived.  When they were promised to me within 2 days...urghhhh!  The owner asked me at one point to stop yelling at him...tee hee...he doesn't know what yelling is!!!!  I was just talking really fast at a little elevated level - that was definately NOT yelling.  Anyhoo - here it is - my OTHER baby....the pool...not the man drinking the beer!

And here's the new patio furniture that the man drinking the beer bought me for our anniversary (it's not until July 4th - but we have a big party coming up - soooooo)!

In more OTHER news....I have been slaving away on my kitchen this weekend.  OMG....unbelievable the amount of hours I've spent and it doesn't really look much different than the last photos I showed you.  I'll be sanding tomorrow and then painting with real paint - not primer.  That's taken forever too!!!  I will be sure to post photos as soon as I have something to show you!

Chickadees & Holly

I'm soooo glad I bought this stamp set - I've used it for almost everything this holiday season and I LOVE IT!

Here's an elegant card I made using the easel layout - the Square Scallop Die is just perfect for this.  All you do is fold your cardstock in half and put it on the Square Scallop Die so that the fold is just inside the cutting edge.  So you'll have a card that opens with the scalloped edges on three sides.  Then fold the front of your card in half.  Cut a single scallop square and adhere it to the bottom part of the folded card...does that make sense?  It's kind of hard to describe some of this stuff sometimes!  It's hard to see in the photo - but I added Dazzling Diamonds to the berries - smashing!!!

My all-time favorite coloring tool is the Aqua Painter...I use it with Watercolor Crayons, Reinkers, Ink Pads and Markers.  I colored with my markers on a non-pourous surface...like a piece of tile or your stamp case - then use the Aqua Painter to pick up the color and make your masterpiece!

Don't forget to decorate your envelope!

Pop Up Penguin Card

This card was sooooo fun!!!!!  The penguin is made with the 2-Step Owl Punch - just cut the ears off the owl and you have a penguin!  I love it when a tool does double duty for us.

The nose is the heart on this punch - turned upside down.  And the fins are the large oval punch - just punch out from your black cardstock and then use the scrap that's left over to punch slivers for the fins.

The snow on the front is a piece of 5-1/2" x 2-3/4" white cardstock - torn in half.  I used the bigger piece as the first layer (the taller one) and the other piece I tore off as the lower snowbank.  I layed my torn pieces on a scrap of typing paper and ran the 2-way glue pen acrossed the torn edge and dusted with Dazzling Diamonds glitter.....WOWEEE!

Here's the inside of the card - with the pop up.  I received a beautiful card from Founder's Circle with this technique inside.  My Technique Tuesday stampers asked last month to learn this technique for our class this month.

Here's how I cut the inside pop up channel.  Place your cardstock in the paper cutter at 2-3/4".  Cut from 5" to 10-1/2" down the edge.  Then move your cardstock over to 3-1/4" and cut again from 5" to 10-1/2".

Your then going to put your cardstock in the cutter the long way and score the channel at 5", 10" & 10-1/2" as shown below.  Fold on the score lines so it looks like this:

I punched out snowflakes with the 3/4" circle punch, backed with Not Quite Navy 1" circles.  I doubled these up so when they twirl around you have the image on both sides.  A little white Baker's Twine in between the layers was perfect.  Run some SNAIL adhesive down the channel on your card base and stick your Baker's Twine to it - spacing your snowflakes evenly.  Then to cover the channel up on the outside of your card - I used Letters From Santa Designer Series Paper - cut a 1" wide.  Make sure you apply your glue to the outside of the card along each edge of the channel - careful not to get any glue on the channel or your pop up willno longer pop up.  I prefer to use the Liquid Mono glue for this step.

You'll notice here that the scalloped layer is bigger than the channel - this measures 1" x 5".

The little sign is the cuff from the Stocking Punch - it's the perfect size to use with the Tiny Tags stamp set.

I used Tiny Tags, Serene Snowflakes, & Many Merry Messages for my stamp sets.

Ahhhh Fall!

Beautiful Fall Card - Technique Class!!!

This card immediately grabbed me when I opened up all the swaps cards that came late last month.  I just LOVE it!!!  Candy Michael is the original artist - Candy was my dinner companion on the Stampin' Up! cruise to Alaska...alot of demonstrators weren't too happy when we were assigned our dinner arrangements - they wanted to sit with their friends.  I didn't really have an issue with it - and I'm soooo glad!  I now have a new Stampin' Up! friend from Ohio!!!  Her family was so fun - and Hailey and her son hung out some too.
