Fabulous Florets Notepad Holder

 

How fun is this?  I made this for a hostess gift for a workshop last week.  The bigger prints in our new Beyond the Garden DSP are perfect for a project like this.

I used a "floating reinker" technique on the flowers.  You start with Shimmery White Cardstock - spray liberally with water - dot reinker loaded on an Aqua Painter on your flower and watch is spread...it's so fun!

Deer Sunset Card Instructions

 
 I promised that I would show you how to make this card!!!!

1.  I started with a GORGEOUS sunset photo taken my by mother - Karen Flynn.  She loves to take photos and has a ton of outstanding sunsets!!!  This is the view out her patio door in Central Wisconsin...the branch on the right is a very old and large walnut tree.

 2.  Stamp the deer image from Nature Silhouettes with Jet Black StazOn ink...you need to brace your hand so the stamp doesn't slide...it will be slippery.

 

3.  Stamp the tree image on the left side of the photo.  I did not stamp the tree off the left side of the photo on purpose.  This image is thin and I was afraid that I would miss so much of it.

4.  Set your photo aside and assemble the rest of your card while you wait a few minutes for the ink to dry.

5.  Take a Black Sharpie marker and dot it over the areas that didn't get inked up real well.  The dotting seemed to work better than a coloring motion.
 

6.  Trim off the left side of your photo first, along the edge of the tree.

 

7.  Then turn the photo around and trim it to 4 1/2" wide.

 

8.  Now trim off the top of your photo so it shows the tree along the top edge.

9.  Trim off the bottom of the photo so it measures 3".  The finished photo is 4 1/2" wide by 3" tall.

The card base is Basic Gray.  The Poppy Parade layer under the photo is 3 1/8" x 4 5/8"

 

Here are three different sunsets...notice the lightest one is blurry.  My stamps slid on this one.
 

 

Here's the super fun part....you can use my mom's sunset photos by right clicking on them (below) and then choosing "SAVE PHOTO AS...."  This will save the sunsets to your computer so you can send them to your favorite photo developer and make your own sunset/silhouette cards!!!

I love creating masculine cards...it can be somewhat challenging...but it's something that comes easy to me.  Here's a dandy that we'll be making on Wednesday!!!!

All About Prom!!!

Happy Belated Mother's Day!  I hope your weekend was everything you wanted it to be....my weekend was jam packed with Prom fesitvities....and I wouldn't have changed a thing!  I spent my Sunday at a cookout where each mother was given a red rose - the men cooked and then CLEANED UP AND DID THE DISHES!!!  No kidding!  I tried to help clean up and I was told to go outside and relax!!!!  The meal was preceded by a couple grueling games of KICKBALL!!!!  I haven't played kickball since high school - it was sooooooooooo much fun!

SATURDAY - There was nooooooooo time for stamping this weekend...it was all about PROM!!!!  From the dress to the shoes, to the hair, nails & toes...we had a BLAST!  How to choose....there were soooooo many great photos - memories for a lifetime!  Everything went off without a hitch!  Here's our journey on Saturday...

All the kids chipped in for a limo.....one of the moms even bought grape juice champagne....it was sooooo fun!  The kids had the driver stop at Wal-Mart for another bottle after dinner!

And some smokin' sunglasses for the Prom After Party Casino Night!

 

All the parents headed to the bowling alley after we got the kids off on their magical night to set up the casino night.  I ran the horse race game and filled in for the blackjack dealers when they needed a break.  Everything turned out sooooooooo perfect!  We had bowling, gaming, WII dance competitions, twister and gave away flat screen TV's, I-Pods, Blue Ray DVD Players, and tons of gift certificates!

 

I slid into bed a little after 3:00 am...exhausted!

Scallop Easel Card

 

These Scallop Circle Easel cards are much easier to make than they look!!!  How beautiful is this NEW BEYOND THE GARDEN Designer Series Paper???  And the FABULOUS FLORETS stamp set???  Both can be found in the NEW SUMMER MINI CATALOG!!!!

 
 

Here's a photo of the back.  All you do is put your 8 1/2" x 5" cardstock - folded in half - on the Scallop Circle Die with 4 scallops peeking out over the top of the folded edge...so when you die cut it...the folded edge isn't completely cut.  Then take the front flap of the die cut piece and fold it up.  Die cut a single Scallop Circle and adhere it to half of that folded piece.  WAAA LAAAA!

 
Here's a close-up of the flower.  I got this idea from my friend Dawn Olchefske - drag an ink pad across a scrap of Whisper White cardstock and then stamp your flower with black ink...really cool look!

On a funny note....isn't this adorable???  Hailey and her friends made pinata's the other night - for a contest in her Spanish class - for extra credit!!!  My kitchen was filled with newspaper and flour was everywhere...but as you can see...it was well worth it!
